Academy of Reading

St. Mark School will once again be offering the Academy of Reading to our students. In addition, we have purchased the Academy of Math, and this program will also be available to our students.

Academy of Math and Academy of Reading are interactive software programs designed to supplement the classroom program and can be used both for at-risk and enrichment programs.

What is the Academy of Reading?

"The Academy of Reading is an individualized literacy intervention program designed to help struggling students realize fast, permanent gains in core reading skills. The Academy of Reading is designed to compliment your existing reading curriculum.

The program assists reading-delayed or at-risk readers, dyslexic students, as well as ESL and special education students. The program can also assist young learners who need to develop and improve reading skills." (from the Academy of Reading Instructor Resource Guide)

What is the Academy of Math?

"The Academy of Math is a research-based math intervention software program that offers measureable gains in student achievement in mathematics. The program is aimed at all students who have tested below grade levels on standardized state and national mathematics tests. It can also help any student who needs to develop basic math skills, especially those who are behind and need to move up a level quickly." (from the Academy of Math Instructor Resource Guide)

Student will be placed in the Academy of Math or Academy of Reading upon teacher referral. Parents may also request their child be placed in the program.
