Spanish at Saint Mark
A Spanish enrichment program is offered to all St. Mark students.
Primary students are offered an introduction to the Spanish language.
Third and fourth grade students will study vocabulary and verb usage, in Spanish, in the following topics:
- Greeting
- The Family
- School and the Classroom
- Activities
- Money and Counting
- Telling Time
- Colors
- Personal Characteristics
Fifth grade students will continue to learn vocabulary and verb usage, in Spanish, in the following topics:
- Days and Months
- The Human Body
- My House
- Weather Expressions
- Foods
Sixth grade students will also continue to learn vocabulary and verb usage, in Spanish, in the following topics:
- Giving Directions
- How to Go Places
- Clothing and Shopping
- Animals
- Countries, Nationalities, and Languages
Seventh grade students will review all the above topics with emphasis on speaking and interacting. Students will create games using the vocabulary and verb usage they have studied.
Eighth grade students will continue to review the above topics with emphasis on speaking and interacting in the Spanish language. Students will create skits using the vocabulary and verb usage they have studies.
Students in each grade will practice Catholic prayers in Spanish. They will also be given information on the lives of the Saints, The Day of the Dead (All Souls Day), and the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Students will also be given opportunities to use Spanish software programs for the computers.
