Tithing

One part of Catholic Stewardship is contributing a portion of your income to the Church or to other charities. Ideally, each family contributes 10% of their income. Many choose to give 5% to their church, and 5% to the charity of their choice. If you are currently giving less than 5%, we challenge you to increase your giving level until you reach that point. If you are a current or new parishioner, you will receive envelopes in the mail. However, if you prefer, you many sign up for an automatic payment to the church from your bank account. Planned Giving

As stewards of the Catholic Faith, we share a responsibility in making our Church and school true communities of faith and service. This responsibility includes providing financial support now and in the future. Planned giving is an opportunity to leave a Legacy of Faith to the Church.

There are many ways to leave a legacy:

• Charitable Trusts
• Charitable Gift Annuities
• Estate Giving
• Lifetime Giving

Annual Auction

Each year St. Mark has an auction. The 11th Annual Auction will be held on April 2, 2011 at the Itoo Hall in Peoria. This is a fun evening of fellowship and fundraising, and provides a significant amount of money to support the Church and school. The theme for the 2011 auction is "African Safari" as a tribute to our sister parish in Kitui, Kenya. Alumni Donations

Saint Mark has a rich history with over 100 years of education in Peoria. Thousands of young men and women have graduated from our school. All remember it fondly. If you are not part of our alumni mailing list or are interested in learning more about alumni events or giving, please email alumni@saint-mark.net.

Scrip

Scrip is Fundraising While You Shop. Did you know you can raise money for St. Mark School while doing your everyday shopping and dining? All you have to do is purchase gift cards from St. Mark Scrip for local and national vendors and use them in place of cash, checks or credit cards for purchases you were going to make anyway! Each card purchased carries a contribution (profit) of 2-15% or more.

Gift cards are available from over 300 national and local retailers. Groceries, clothing, dining out, home improvement, even gasoline can all be purchased with Scrip. In the past several years, Scrip profits have totaled over $12,000 for St. Mark. Of that profit at least $5,000 is given to the school each year, over $3,800 is given back to the families, and the remaining profit is used to increase Scrip on-hand inventory.

What is in it for you? The first $100 profit earned by your family is retained by the St. Mark Scrip program. After the first $100 family profit, 50% of additional profits earned are returned to you in the form of a check.

Scrip can be purchased after each weekend mass, at the school during office hours or orders may be sent to school with your child and gift cards will be sent home on Friday. Orders received by Monday at 4 PM will be filled and available for pick up that Friday. To order scrip on-line, go to www.shopwithscrip.com. St. Mark enrollment code is 432EFF173494. Orders placed on-line may be paid for by check (received by 4PM Monday) or using Paypal.
